The History of Honey Fitz...

The story goes (as we've been told) that more than 20 years ago the the original owner had a girlfriend (eventually to become wife) he nicknamed Fitz or Fitzy. So, in his "honey's" honor he named the pub after her. "My Honey" was added before her name, calling the pub "My Honey Fitz."

After a few years, the pub was sold to a man named Dan, who kept the original name. A few years later Dan sold the pub to a man named Jimmy, who also kept the original name for over fourteen years.

Jimmy occasionally considered dropping the “My” in pursuit of the “Honey Fitz” theme. John Francis "Honey Fitz" Fitzgerald was John F. Kennedy's (JFK's) maternal grandfather and also the Mayor of Boston. John Francis Fitzgerald served as Mayor from 1906-1908 and then again from1910-1914. And in 1961 after his inauguration, JFK named his 92 foot presidential yacht the Honey Fitz.

Well it turned out that Jimmy never changed the name and eventually sold it to the current owner...Stu.

We are now called "Honey Fitz", and our entire staff welcomes you to stop on by!
